Which health funds cover the cost of laser eye surgery?

Great news, as more Australians are turning to laser vision for vision correction, health funds have adapted by providing cover on certain policies. It is best to check with your health fund directly to confirm if you are eligible and your benefits. Below is a summary

Bupa

Lions Laser Vision is a preferred provider of Bupa. Smart Sight, LASIK and PRK are fully covered on Bupa Gold Ultimate Policies. This policy has a 3 year waiting period before you can claim for laser vision correction. With Bupa Ultimate, your consultation is waived if you are suitable and book for laser correction.

HBF

HBF does not have a specific laser vision rebate, but you are able to claim from your optical benefit and ultilise any GAP saver available. Standard waiting periods for optical would apply.

Medibank

Medibank provides a rebate of $3500 for laser eye surgery if you are covered the Medibank Gold Ultra Cover. A 3 year waiting period applies too.

AHM

Australian Health Management (AHM) members can claim up to $1200 for laser eye surgery with AHM Lifestyle Extras and $1800 with AHM Super Extras. A 2 year waiting period is required.

Defence Health

Defence Health’s Top Extra provides their members with $1000 towards laser eye surgery. A waiting period of 12 months apply.
